With the rapid development of industry, the frequency of flammable liquid fires has increased rapidly. Moreover, once a flammable liquid fire occurs, conventional foam fire extinguishing agents are difficult to extinguish the rapidly spreading fire, resulting in very serious losses caused by such fires. Fluorosurfactants, with their unique and excellent properties, play an irreplaceable and special role in the development of fire extinguishing agents. They are one of the main raw materials that are indispensable in water-based film-forming fire extinguishing agents and water-based fire extinguishing agents. The fluorosurfactants produced by Chemours Chemicals (formerly DuPont), represented by SCM, currently have a market share of more than 70% in the domestic fire extinguishing agent market, becoming a supplier with a market share in fire extinguishing agents.
The fluorosurfactants of Chemours Chemicals represented by SCM are not only environmentally friendly, stable, and high-performance, but also do not contain toxic and hazardous substances banned by the EU: PFOA/PFOS. All products have a C6 short carbon chain structure and are more rapidly degraded in the natural environment than C8 products. As environmental protection requirements for fire protection products at home and abroad are gradually increasing, SCM Capstone® series products are bound to become the formula for aqueous film-forming fire extinguishing agents and water-based fire extinguishing agents.
Introduction to the application of aqueous film-forming foam fire extinguishing agent
Aqueous film-forming foam fire extinguishing agent is also called "light water" foam fire extinguishing agent. It is composed of fluorocarbon surfactant, fluorine-free surfactant (hydrocarbon surfactant or silicone surfactant) and additives to improve foam performance (foam stabilizer, antifreeze agent, co-solvent and thickener, etc.) and water. The mixing ratio with water is 3% AFFF by volume. There are two types: 6% AFFF (3:97) and 6% AFFF (6:94), with a shelf life of eight years.
Fire extinguishing principle of aqueous film-forming foam fire extinguishing agent
After the water-based film-forming foam fire extinguishing agent is mixed with water through a foam proportioning mixing device, the output foam mixture is passed through the foam generating and spraying equipment (foam generator, foam generator, foam nozzle) to produce fire-extinguishing foam. When it is sprayed onto the burning oil surface, the water stratified from the foam can form a well-sealed water film on the fuel surface, isolating the contact between the fuel and the air. It has the dual fire-extinguishing effects of forming foam and forming a water film on the oil surface, and can quickly and efficiently extinguish oil fires.
